She was born in Claiborne County, December 12, 1913 and was the daughter of the late Janae and Sterl Mayes. Two brothers, Walter and Richard Mayes preceded her in death.
Survivors include husband, Fred Ausmus; five daughters, Shelby Gibson, Dyton [sic], Ohio; Janette Jarvis, Dayton, Ohio; Patricia Hoskins, Dayton, Ohio, Gladys Barnett, Middlesboro; Glenda Wilson, Middlesboro; one sister, Mrs. Alice Smith, speedwell; four brothers, Jack Mayes, Ft. Wayne; Vantoy Mayes,Speedwell; Fred Mayes, Speedwell; and Edward Mayes, Speedwell; and 16 grandchildren.
Services will be conducted Thursday, 2 p.m. at the Shumate Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ralph Tennyson is the officiating minister.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Shumate Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Ausmus Cemetery, Speedwell, Tenn.
