Jane Faye Cummings, 78, was called to Glory Sept. 7, 2014, at UPMC Mercy Hospital, in Pittsburgh. Jane was born May 6, 1936, in Oil City, to the late Raymond and Mable Wygant Luce. She was married 52 years to Richard Cummings, who preceded her in death in 2008. She was the sister of the late Florence (late Paul) Stampo and the late Lanoma (late Samuel) Campbell; and stepsister of the late Pearl (late Paul) Recny, and the late Robert Bartosh. She is survived by her children, Rich Cummings and Lanoma (Steven) Stein; much-loved family friend and caregiver, Nick Lochner; and many beloved nephews, nieces, neighbors and friends. Jane's great joys in life were her devotion to God, her love of family, travel and raising children. She visited almost every state in this country, as well as making many trips abroad. Her sense of adventure and determination were so strong that she journeyed to Australia in 2009, despite being largely confined to a wheelchair. She helped to raise many children over the course of her life, including Alyssa, Josh and Logan Brown, Sean Littell, Aidan Mick and Robert, Phil and Scott Watkins. Besides being a group leader in the Brookline Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts, and a Sunday school teacher for many years, Jane was a longtime member of the Fairhaven United Methodist Church and a member of The United Methodist Women, The Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, The Eastern Star-Carrick Chapter, The American Legion Auxiliary No. 540; and, as a descendant of nine Revolutionary War veterans, a proud member of The Daughters of the American Revolution. Viewings will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 10-11, 2014, at the FRANK F. DeBOR FUNERAL HOME. DeBor Funeral home is located at 1065 Brookline Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA, 15226. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, in Fairhaven United Methodist Church, 2415 Saw Mill Run Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15234. Interment will be at Riverview Memorial Park, 2023 Lincoln Road, Verona. All are welcome to attend a reception at the Fairhaven United Methodist Church following the interment service. Jane's family would like to thank her friend and caregiver, Nick Lochner, for his hours of attention to Jane; her physician, Dr. Kaushik P. Patel, for his kindness, his willingness to answer endless questions and his deep care about Jane and her needs; and the nurses at the Intensive Care Unit at Mercy Hospital for their extraordinary attention and gentleness to Jane during her final days and for their compassion, sense of humor and dedication to the tenets of their vocation. Donations may be made in her memory to the Fairhaven United Methodist Church Window Restoration Fund.
