Julie Ann Christensen, 43, of rural Bemidji, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, as the result of a car accident west of Duluth in Proctor, Minn. The funeral was held at Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji. Burial was in the Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in Bemidji.

She was born Aug. 27, 1964, to Dorothy and Kenneth Holland in Truth or Consequences, N.M. She lived west of Laporte on her grandfather's farm after moving north from Truth or Consequences at three months of age. She went to school in Laporte until the 10th grade when the family moved to Searcy, Ark. She entered high school at Harding Academy, graduating in May 1982. She took one semester of college at Harding University and moved home to the farm homestead.

She began working at North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bemidji, in 1985 as a nursing assistant. She earned a practical nursing degree in 1986 from Bemidji Vocational Technical College. She married Kevin Christensen on Sept. 12, 1987, in Bemidji. She earned a bachelor's degree in K-12 health education in 1998 from Bemidji State University. She continued to work at North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and in June 2004 received her associate registered nurse degree from BSU. She then began working for North Country Regional Hospital in August of 2004. She went on to receive her bachelor's degree in nursing from BSU in 2006. She then began work with the Nursing Resource Team at the hospital.

She loved crocheting, embroidering, reading, baking, fishing, spending time outdoors, her pets and vacationing with her family.

She is survived by her husband of Bemidji; son, Justin Christensen and daughter, Janelle Christensen, both of Bemidji; mother, Dorothy (Don) Hemenway of Park Rapids; brothers, Roy of Park Rapids, Jeff of Laporte and Alvin of Searcy, Ark.; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.
