Joan M. Patoka, 96, formerly of Sallie Avenue, Fond du Lac, passed away April 14, 2011 at the Sterling House.

She was born February 12, 1915 in the town of Stockton, Portage County, to the late Joseph and Augustina Konkol.

On November 5, 1934 she married Florian Patoka at St. Mary's of Mt. Carmel Church, Fancher, Wisconsin. Florian passed away December 24, 1962.

Joan was employed at Diedricks Bakery for many years and then by Tolibia Cheese until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and St. Mary's Altar Society. Joan was active in senior bowling, enjoyed playing cards, daily walking, and was known for decorating many, many cakes for her family. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and loved the Brewers.

Survivors include a son, David (Karen) Patoka of Fond du Lac, a son-in-law, Roger Bauer of Kewaskum, seven grandchildren, Sandy (Rich) McKee of Kewaskum, Gary (Carol) Bauer of Mukwonago , Kay (Daniel) Butzke of Kewaskum, Ken (Val) Bauer of Hubertus, Terry (Reyna) Patoka of Troutman, NC, Jodie (Tomme) Hawkins of Rome, NY, Timothy (special friend, Kayla Nelson) Patoka of Oconomowoc, 22 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Leonard (Regina) Konkol of Stevens Point, two sisters-in-law, Marie Konkol of Menomonee Falls, and Ruth (Husky) Hansen of Amherst, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Florian, a daughter Elaine Bauer, a granddaughter, Mary Lynn Patoka,

Visitation: Visitation for Joan will be held on Monday April 18, 2011 from 9:00 to 10:45 AM at Holy Family Parish, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, 11:00 AM at the church. Rev. Robert Stiefvater will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be directed to New Beginnings, 365 East Division St. Fond du Lac, WI 54935 or the St. Agnes Hospice Hope Program.
