Dr. Silas Green Cain, prominent Somerset physician, died suddenly Wednesday night at his home on Vine Street from a heart attack. Because Dr. Cain's wife was visiting relatives in Jamestown, discovery of his death was not made until late Thursday afternoon when his associates at the Somerset General Hospital became concerned over his failure to arrive at his office. He was in bed when found, and had apparently been dead since early the night before.

Dr. Cain was a member of prominent Pulaski County families, being the son of the late M.J. and Nancy Weddle Cain. He was born at Cains Store in the western section of the county. He was educated in the public schools of the county and was graduated from the medical college of the University of Louisville in 1894. After completing his education, Dr. Cain began the practice of medicine in Somerset, but later moved to Big Springs, Texas, where he practiced for twenty years. He returned to Kentucky in 1916 and soon afterward enlisted for service at this country's entrance into the World War. He served as a First Lieutenant during the war, returning here afterward and resuming the practice of his profession.

Dr. Cain was an officer and member of the staff of the Somerset General Hosptial and had a large practice. He was a member of county, state, and national medical Associations, and of Pulaski Post, American Legion. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the late residence and burial took place in the City Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. W.E. Hunter and Rev. L.D. Fisher.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Simpson Cain, and one sister, Mrs. A.J. Weddle of Asheville, N.C.
