Quincy was born July 15, 1929 in Fort Necessity to Henry Benson and Annie Mary Eubanks Barfield and passed from this life on September 4, 2014 in Mountain View, AR.
The year was 1952. Quincy Barfield met Rosie Cummings in a small cafe in Newellton where she worked and was smitten. They knew each other only a few months when Rosie moved with her family to southern California. Very soon afterward Quincy drove from Louisiana to California to ask her to marry him. She said 'yes' and they married on January 15, 1953. Thus began 61 years of devotion to each other.
For a short time Quincy worked in the oil field, fished the Mississippi and eventually starting a farm outside Newellton growing cotton and soybeans. He retired to Mountain View, AR for several years, yet retained a home in Newellton.
Survivors include daughter Kathy Barfield Gill and husband Luther of Bradley, AR; son Kenny Barfield of Bradley, AR; brother Bill Barfield and wife Monie Jo of Newellton; sister Lela Warren of Newellton; grandchildren: Stacie Campbell, Clifton "Sonny" Gill, Ashley Barfield, Aaron Barfield and Ainsley Barfield; great grandchildren: Rachel Pope and Caleb Gill, and a host of other relatives and friends.
