He was born on July 17, 1929 in Grayson Co., KY, the son of the late John Robert and Lillie Vincent Newton.
He was a retired construction worker and was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed bargain hunting especially for knives and antiques. He was married to his late wife, Bernice Sanders Newton, on December 20, 1952.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Cannon (Kenny) and Karen Downs (Brian) both of Leitchfield, one son, Scottie Newton (Theresa) of Leitchfield, six grandchildren and several great grandchildren, one sister, Nelma Decker of Leitchfield, and one brother, Lloyd Newton of Leitchfield.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, (September 10, 2014) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Garry Watkins will be officiating. Burial will be in the Sanders Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services.
