Mrs. Ora S. Samples, 98, and affectionately known as Mama Ora, of Grantville, Ga., died Thursday, July 21, 2005, at Pine Knoll Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carrollton, Ga.
Mrs. Samples was born July 21, 1907, in Dallas, Texas, daughter of the late Henry Josh Strickland and the late Minnie Lee Yearty Strickland. She lived in Coweta County most of her life and retired after owning and operating a produce market. She was a member of Yellowdirt Baptist Church and was the wife of the late L. T. Scantling and the late E. W. (Red) Samples.
Survivors include three daughters, Jewell Rogers and Martha Dewberry, both of Grantville and Faye Purdue of Chickamauga; two step-sons, Ed Samples of Franklin, and LeRoy Samples of Riverdale; one sister, Flossie Mae Folds of Lowell; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 36 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 24, in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. The Rev. Stanley Rogers, the Rev. Kenny Rogers and the Rev. Barney Howard will officiate, and interment will be in Yellowdirt Baptist Church Cemetery in Heard County.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Saturday night.
