Son of Stephen Augustus and Lillie Jane Burres (deceased); born June 23, 1883, Farmland, Randolph County, Ind. Traveling Salesman. Served in The Spanish-American War, and U.S. Navy four years. Again entered the navy April 8, 1918. Died in Naval Hospital, Brooklyn, N.Y., May 14, 1918. Body sent to Los Angeles, Cal., cremated, and ashes scattered on the Pacific Ocean. Survived by widow, Jesse McClain Burres, and children, Bruce, Walton, and Charles Burres Jr., Los Angeles, Cal.
