KAYSVILLE - Marlin Vernon Sanders, 76, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2001 at the McKay-Dee Hospital.

He was born April 7, 1924 in Cache Junction, Utah, a son of Martin Reginald and Sylvia Pearl Benson Sanders.

He graduated from North Cache High School in 1942 and was later drafted into the United States Army during World War II. Marlin served in India during the war.

He married Ida Bell Savage September 30, 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple.

He was a life long member of the LDS Church where he served in various callings and assignments.

He was a professional barber and men and women's hair stylist. He loved people and used his talents to gain many friends over his lifetime. He was owner and operator of several barber shops beginning with many years in the Brigham City area where his family was raised.

Marlin enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping during the early years of his life. He also enjoyed dancing which he did whenever his health permitted.

Marlin was known as the patriarch and peace-maker among his family and siblings. It was common for him to assist family with projects, reunions, etc. He was affectionately known as "Grandpa" to many of his nieces and nephews.

He loved to restore wrecked automobiles for friends and family. His humor and love for life will be missed.

Surviving are his eternal companion, Ida, Brigham City; one son, Craig V. (Pam) Sanders, Fort Collins, CO; two daughters, Ida Faye (Ben) Christensen, Layton; Dixie Gail Simonsen, Woods Cross; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, Roy Sanders, Rose Park; Doyle Sanders, Provo; Odell Sanders, Kaysville; and Don Sanders, Syracuse.

Preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Delfa Beimer, two brothers, Reginald Junior Sanders, and Dean Martin Sanders.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 29, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
