Mary M. Pride, 84, of Washington, passed away at 7:49 a.m. Monday at Eastgate Manor Nursing Home. Born Aug. 15, 1926, in Montgomery, She was the daughter of John and Anna (O’Connor) Oberst. A 1945 graduate of Washington Catholic High School, she had worked many years at Indiana Bell Telephone as a phone operator. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Lisa Litherland of Washington, and Lynn and Terry Buhr of Evansville; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Cheryl Pride of Bargersville; two sisters, Catherine Hill of Washington and Teresa Keller of Bloomington; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Her husband, William Pride, whom she married Aug. 13, 1949, died Jan. 18, 2002. She is also preceded in death by one sister, Sister Mary Celeste Oberst; one brother, Julia Oberst; and one grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, with Rev. Gordon Mann as celebrant. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with a wake service at 3:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be given to Washington Catholic Education Endowment, P.O. Box 916, Washington, IN 47501.
