Lorenzo H. Chambers, 70, of 903 Maryland Avenue, retired member of the Cumberland Police Department, died yesterday in Memorial Hospital. A native of Oakdale, Pa., he is a son of the late Lorenzo D. and Rachael A. (Williams) Chambers. He was a member of the Methodist Church and of Cumberland Aerie 245, Fraternal Order of Masons. Mr. Chambers, who was a member of the local police department for 20 years, retired on December 1, 1948. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are five sons, George K. Chambers, Paw Paw; Hayes Chambers, LaVale: Aubrey Chambers. Bedford Road; William Chambers, Baltimore Pike, and Rev. Richard Chambers. Portsmouth, Va. and eight grandchildren. The body is at the George Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 to 4 p. m. and 7 to 9 p. m. Services will be conducted on Friday at 2 p. m. at the funeral home by Rev. Carlton M. Harris, pastor of Centre Street Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Hinkle Cemetery on Williams Road. Pallbearers, all members of the Cumberland Police Department, will be Lt. John E. Sherry, Sgt. Charles C. Roby, Sgt. Robert L. Gilpin, Sgt. James W. Brown, Sgt. E. Gordon Hite and Officer John Powers.
