"It has been definitely ascertained that somewhere around 1740 three brothers left France, spending two years in England. They set out for North America. Two settled in Ohio and Kentucky and there is no record of the third brother. In 1820, Burrus Embree, a descendant of the Kentucky family, emigrated to Missouri by wagon train with his wife a Miss Duncan, eleven sons and three daughters. They settled in Howard County, near Fayette. These children scattered to the Burton area, the Clark area, the Madison area, and to Pettis County. One brother went to the Territory of Oregon in 1854, becoming active and popular in the territorial government and a state senator.

The youngest son, Milton Jackson "Apple Jack" Embree, grandfather of C.B. Embree, on the death of his father, bought the interest of all remaining heirs to the family homestead, established in Monroe County, five miles north of Middle Grove. The five sons and three daughters are: Anzine, Sirene, Talenus, Philetus (father of C. B. Embree),
Eucebius, Eurena, (twins), Eugene, Milton Jackson, Jr. The three daughters settled in Saline County marrying into the Page, Ayers, and Brockman families. Many descendants are still living near Gillum and Slater."

His parents were Joseph Embree and Mildred Burris of Clark Co, KY.
