Dale H. Beard, 71, Lexington, died at 11:28 p.m. Monday (January 30, 2012) at Advocate Christ Medical Center, Oak Lawn. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvert-Johnson & Musselman Memorial Home, Lexington, with the Rev. Garry Gromley officiating. Cremation rites will follow. Inurnment will be in Lexington Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the memorial home. Memorials may be made to the Lexington Ambulance Service. Dale was born December 21, 1940, in LeRoy, the son of Guy W. & Vetrie Whitlock Beard. He married Marilyn R. Sanders on February 13, 1960, in Bloomington. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Shelley (Jay) Bryant and Vicki R. (Dennis) Farney, both of Colfax; a son, Michael D. (Terri) Beard, Lexington; seven grandchildren, Erik (Jessica) Bryant, Justin Bryant, Amanda, Brian and Samantha Farney, and Christopher and Nicholas Beard; two great-granddaughters, Ellison Sophia Bryant and Haleigh Rose Farney; and three sisters, Rita (Orville) Miller and Carol Beard, both of Bloomington, and Louie (Bill) Maden, Yakima, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Willard "Buck" Beard and Dennis Beard. Dale had worked for OTR Firestone in Bloomington for more than 11 years and also bartended for more than 20 years at the Grand Hotel and the Bloomington Moose. He later retired from Alexander Manufacturing in Towanda.
