MAYSVILLE, Mo. - Noma M. (McMillan) Gossett, 88, Maysville, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at a Maysville health-care center.

Mrs. Gossett was an elementary school teacher at Surprise rural school, south of Maysville; Garfield rural school, northwest of King City, Mo.; King City Elementary School; and Washington Elementary School, St Joseph.

Born Jan. 27, 1912, in El Monte, Calif., she was a graduate of Maysville High School. She later received a teaching degree from Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville. She lived most of her life in Gentry and DeKalb counties, spending the past 24 years in Maysville.

Mrs. Gossett was a member of Maysville First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Union. She was a member of Fortnightly Book Club and Bible Studies Group, both of Maysville, and the Missouri State Teachers Association.

On Dec. 23, 1933 (sic), she married Scott Gossett in King City. He died in 1992.

Mrs. Gossett also was preceded in death by her parents, Druery and Anna B. McMillan; and six brothers, Loud, Fount, Bert, Clay, Alvin and Carl McMillan.

Surviving: three daughters, Roena Fletcher, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Helen Bennett, Lansing, Kan,, and Ruth A. Owen, Maysville; two sisters, Dorothy Craig, Walnut Creek, Calif., and Helen Johnson, Palo Alto, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Service: 3 p.m. Monday, Bram Funeral Home, Maysville. Burial: King City Cemetery. Family visitation: 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Maysville Public Library or Maysville Scholarship Fund, in care of the funeral home, P.O. 350, Maysville, MO 64469.
