Mrs. Jean Townsend, 63, of 530 Moosic St., died this morning (9 Feb 1957) in Moses Taylor Hospital where she had been a patient since Tuesday.

Daughter of the late George and Carrie Markel Walters (Walter), she was born in Nanticoke but had lived here 60 years. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Edward J. O'Hara, Mrs. Gerald Dalrymple and Miss Marilyn Townsend, all of this city; Mrs. Seymour Benjamin, Moosic; two sons, John, Baltimore, Md., and Norman, this city; two sisters, Mrs. Jack Amendt, this city, and Mrs. Jessie Kasch, Monroe, N.Y.; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 A.M. from the Tague Funeral Home, 109 South Main Ave., with services by the Rev. Dr. William D. Golightly, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, Interment, Washburn Street Cemetery.

Friends may call tonight from 7 to 10 and thereafter from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 P.M. (Scranton Times)
