Mary Eleanor Carroll
Died: Sat., Sep. 6, 2014

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, James Darling and Annie Laura Carroll. She was born on May 18, 1923 and was a life-long resident of Lilburn, having attended both Lilburn Elementary and Lilburn High School where she graduated in 1939. At Lilburn High, she enjoyed the home economics classes where she learned to cook and sew. She laughingly said her sewing of a plaid skirt was such a dismal failure that she could not wear it. After graduation, her first job was with Genesco, the Lawrenceville shoe factory. She was employed with the Greyhound Bus Company where she started work on March 13, 1943. Mary retired on April 30, 1978 after 35 years, 2 months, 2 weeks and 2 days. She enjoyed her years of retirement by helping friends in need and watching court TV. Mary was a dedicated, life-long member of First Baptist Church of Lilburn where her mother Annie attended Liberty Baptist Church before her birth.

Mary will be missed by her many friends and neighbors including Mack and Carole Brown, James and Judy Garner and Susan Rumble. She is survived by her cousins, Jane and Sam Morton of Pittsburgh, PA, Riitta and Sandy Morton of Burlington, WA and Steve, Sue and Sam Morton of Austin, TX.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 8, 2014 at 4:30 PM at the First Baptist Church of Lilburn with Mrs. Susan Rumble officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held in the sanctuary from 4:00 - 4:30 PM prior to the service.

Remembrances can be made in memory of Mary to the First Baptist Church of Lilburn, 285 Main Street, Lilburn, GA 30047.
