Katherine Loftin Ivey (Teenie) was born Aug. 26, 1926, to Clyde and Leda Byler Loftin in Mertzon at the home of her grandparents, J.W. and Annie Byler. She went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014. Katherine graduated from Mertzon High School as salutatorian in 1943, and San Angelo Business College in 1944.

She married Aubrey Ray Ivey on July 3, 1946. They resided in Big Lake where she worked at Reagan and Irion County ASCS. Then later worked at the Reagan County Memorial Hospital until her retirement when she moved with her husband to Mertzon in 1989.

Mother was known for her wonderful cooking. She cooked for Wednesday church suppers and all family holiday gatherings. Her turkey and dressing were the finest. She was active in Beta Sigma Phi and Christian Women Fellowship. She was always there for her family, taking them to church supporting activities with good food, sewing dresses, shopping and attending recitals. She loved her bridge club, dance club and Home Demonstration Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Leda Loftin; brother Sam Loftin; and granddaughter Angie Dolan Gryder. She is survived by her husband, Aubrey Ray; daughters Kathy Dolan and husband Mike and Linda Arms and husband Bill, all of Mertzon; granddaughters LaShaunn Bold and husband Ray of Arlington and Michelle Dolan and husband Alan Drennan of Mertzon; grandson-in-law Brandon Gryder of Mertzon; great-grandsons Carson, Dolan, Brad and Riley; grandson-in-law Shannon Rushing of San Angelo; and one sister, Mary Moos of San Angelo.

Graveside service is planned to celebrate her life at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, in Mertzon Cemetery with the Rev. Denise Bloomquist of First Christian Church of Mertzon where she was a member. We would like to thank the Springs Alzheimer's Care Center, Hope House and Hospice of San Angelo for all their care and support.
