She and her husband bought land at the intersection of Washington St. and Pomona Ave. in the Sather tract of Brooklyn, California, in July, 1906.
That location is now Fruitvale, in East Oakland.

Effie. beloved wife of the late
Martin Ketels: loving mother of
Mrs. Christine Ainsworth. Mrs.
Gertrude Sherlock. Mrs. Jane G.
Bouchard and Martin C. Ketels: a
native of Nova Scotia. aged 91
years.
Friends are respectfully invited
to attend the funeral Saturday,
January 14th at 1:30 p.m. at the
Fruitvale Chapel of the Clarence
N. Cooper Mortuary. 1580 Fruit-
vale Avenue. Interment. Ever-
green Cemetry [sic].
