Emma Meda Klaumann, daughter of William G. and Amelia Klaumann, was born July 27. 1891, on a farm south of Cuba, and died November 6, 1991, at Heartland Care Center in Belleville, at the age of 100 years, three months and nine days.
She moved with her family to a farm south of Belleville when she was 12 years old and continued living with her brother, Ernest and her parents, caring for them until their deaths. She and her brother lived in the Belleville, Republic and Scandia areas.
She received her education at White and Beulah rural schools, Belleville High School, Concordia Business College and Emporia Teachers College.
She taught schools in Republic County for 10 years, and later operated the lunch stand at the Belleville Sale Barn when it was at the Current Wes's Auto Supply location.
She was a member of the Scandia United Methodist Church and a past member of several neighborhood clubs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister; sister, Bertha Wilber, three brothers, Charles, William and Emil.
She is survived by her brother, Ernest Klaumann of Heartland Care Center, eight nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held November 9 at Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Memorial Chapel in Belleville, conducted by Rev. Tom Ballard. Interment was in Belleville Cemetery.
