MURPHYSBORO -- Laura H. Christensen, 98, of Wentzville, Mo., formerly of Murphysboro, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at 6 a.m. in Crossroads Hospital in Wentzville.

She was born April 21, 1905, in Jackson County, the daughter of Frederick Butz and Luella Graff Butz.

She was married to Courtney Christensen. He passed away in 1961.

She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Murphysboro.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Kelly Allen of St. Peterson, Mo. and Kerri Gerke of Wentzville; a daughter-in-law, Anita Christensen of Wentzville; a brother, Fred Butz of Murphysboro and three great-grandchildren, Joshua and Seth Allen and Emily Gerke.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her two sons, Gary Courtney Christensen and Clarence Austin Christensen.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Crain Funeral Home Pleasant Grove Chapel, with the Rev. Franklyn Schroeder officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
