Curtis Kuhlmann, of Mason, passed away on Friday, September 5, at the age of 85. He was born in Fredericksburg on December 4, 1928 to Harry and Wanda Burrer Kuhlmann. After graduating from high school in Fredericksburg, Curtis served in the U. S. Navy from 1946 to 1949. After leaving the Navy, Curtis worked as a barber. He had a barber shop in Mason for 39 years and also worked in Fredericksburg and Harper. Curtis was a hard working man and his life was centered around work and family. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Betty Kuhlmann, of Mason, two sons Gary Kuhlmann and wife DeDe of Mason, “Corky” Kuhlmann of Wimberley, a daughter Dianne Upchurch and husband Marc of Ft. Worth, two step-children Susan Hughes and husband Michael of Dallas and Jerry Crouch and wife Lyla of Mason along with 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 “on the way”.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. Funeral services with military honors will be held graveside at the Gooch Cemetery, Monday, September 8, at 10:00 a.m. Serving as pallbearers are Mason Kuhlmann, Adam Upchurch, Eric Bean, Jason Bean, Kegan Crouch, Ryan Crouch, Granger Williams and Lanie Bratcher.
