His World War I Draft Registration Card gives his birth date as 26 June 1873 and his name as "Samual Tilden Autry". It gives his height as 5 feet 10 inches. Samuel's 1st wife was Catherine Louisa Howard. They were married on 23 Apr 1899, at Sebastian County, Arkansas (at the time Sam was living in Greenwood, Sebastian County, Arkansas and Catherine was living at Burnsville, Sebastian County, Arkansas). There was one child born from this married that was Ethel (aka Effie) Joanna Autry, born on 9 March 1900, at Center Township, Sebastian County, Arkansas.

Sam married a second time to Sarah (aka Sallie) Jane Mays on 18 May 1907, at Carter County, Oklahoma.
