Ronald C. Baker, Sr., age 84, of Columbiaville died February 7, 2014 at home.

Ron was born January 4, 1930 in Petoskey to the late Clarence and Adelia Baker. He later married Patricia Pierson on May 5, 1949 in Columbiaville.

Ron served his country honorably in U.S. Army and gave back to his community thru serving on the Columbiaville village council and was the village constable for a number of years with his dog Major but his biggest passion was being on the Columbiaville Fire Department where he was Chief and started the first dive team. He was the proud recipient of the Mason's Man of the Year Award for all of his dedication. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, smoking his pipe, building furniture, but most of all spending time with his family and friends.

Ron is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pat Baker,

Children: Ron Jr. ( Daryl ) Baker, Debbie ( Eugene ) Burrows,
Aaron ( Joni ) Baker, Tammy ( Steve Allen ) Baker, Greg ( Denise Dupak ) Baker, John ( Michele Chaffin ) Baker,

Siblings: Elwyn ( Liz ) Baker, Marcia Baker, Linda Reynolds,
David ( Katrina ) Baker, and Betty Baker.

He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Gerald, Delores, brother in-laws Chuck Hunt, Lee McDowell, and grandchildren: Mark Baker and Lisa Kohn.

Funeral service Wednesday 11:00 AM at the Columbiaville United Methodist Church. Friends may visit at Jansen Family Funeral Home - Columbiaville on Monday and Tuesday from 3-9 PM. Pastor Esther Irish officiating. Interment Wood Lawn Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Ron may be made to the Columbiaville Fire Department or the Columbiaville United Methodist Church.
