Barry Autrell Bates, 67, of Lawrenceville, GA., passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014, surrounded by his family after having a massive stroke August 19, 2014.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday September 6, 2014 at Bill Head Funeral Home Duluth Chapel. Interment Green Lawn Cemetery with full military honors.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 33 years, Madonna Lassetter Bates, daughters, Kimberly Bates, Jennifer (Kevin) Ruegger and son Wesley (Jennifer) Bates. Grandchildren, Gavin Ruegger, Rylie Ruegger and Tristian Bates.

Barry was a graduate from West Georgia College in 1971 and worked for IBM for over 20 years. He also was in the Georgia Army National Guard, and retired after over 20 years. Barry was a kind, thoughtful, loving, Christian man, who always had time for his wife, family and friends. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He was an active member of Yellow River Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Friday 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory Duluth Chapel.
