Mrs. Carolyn Maxwell, age 89, passed away at Forest Cove Nursing Home after a long illness on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 2:43 a.m. Funeral services for her will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 3 p.m., at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home Chapel, with David Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery.
Mrs. Maxwell was born on June 11, 1925 to Mona Dewy and John Walter Christopher in Jacks Creek, and was raised in Jackson. She graduated from Jackson High in 1943 and worked for South Central Bell for 42 years. She was a long time member of North Jackson Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son, Chris Maxwell and daughter-in-law, Jerri Sue and three grandchildren, Katlyn, Olivia and Gabriella, all of Jackson.She was predeceased in death by Cecil Anderson Maxwell; her husband of 48 years, her parents, a brother and a sister.Mrs. Maxwell was a very loving and devoted mother. She loved crafts and had a passion for crocheting. Her afghans are found keeping several warm in the winter. She cherished her time at the river in her younger years and often called her place "home away from home".
A visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m., and continue on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 2 to 3 p.m., at Lawrence
