Darrel Hurst, 63 of Leawood, KS passed away on September 2, 2014, alongside his mother Lorene Hurst during a senseless act of violence. Darrel was born on February 10th, 1951 in Kansas City, MO to Harold Sr. and Lorene Hurst. He worked at General Motors Fairfax and retired in 2004.
Darrel is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Kathy, daughter Stacey Morgan (Jacob), son Scott Hurst (Cathi), grandchildren Ryan and Natalie Morgan, and brother Harold Hurst Jr. (Ardith).
Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 7, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 8 at the funeral home. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Queen of the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Wea, KS. Please feel free to join the family in procession to the cemetery leaving Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. or meet at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, we ask memorial contributions be made to the National Center for Victims of Crime, 2000 M Street NW, Suite 480, Washington, DC 20036.
