After the war Eleanore married and started her family and her career in real estate with her husband Bill establishing Horrigan Realty and Insurance.
After the early death of Bill in 1961 she raised four children alone. Her most important enjoyments in life were her family and friends. She did not fully retire until forced to at age 83 due to macular degeneration.
She led an active life and loved to play tennis, travel, dance, read, knit, spend summer vacations at Hampton Beach and "work the polls" during elections. She was a Patriots and Red Sox fan.
She was the original manager of the I.C. Duchesses Drill Team, giving her time to the youth of Marlborough. She has fond memories of the many 1st place trophies, victory parades down Main Street, and her friendships with "the drum corps crew." To this day the members of the drum corps and drill team from that era had still asked her children to remember them to her.
The family would like to extend its sincere appreciation to her friends and neighbors for their love and support, especially her real estate friends with whom she enjoyed so many fun times, and to Lynne, Pamela, and the employees of UMass Memorial Hospice for their exceptional care, advice and support during Eleanore's final weeks.
