William Roger “Bill” Thompson, 62, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 2, 2014.

He was born May 13, 1952, in the Eaton Maternity Home the sixth of ten children born to George Forrest Thompson and Caroline Smith Thompson in Shelley, Idaho.
Bill was raised in Darlington, Idaho. When he was about ten the family moved to Shelley where he graduated from Shelley High School in 1970. He served in the military in Germany and was discharged in 1975.

On June 24, 1978, he married Robin Morris in Shelley. Together they had three children. They were later divorced.

He was a welder by trade. He had many jobs working cement, and drywall. He enjoyed carpentry and could repair anything. He had a great love for gardening and had a green thumb. He nurtured each plant like a beloved pet. Bill was known for his kindness and compassionate nature and his love for others. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his former wife, Robin Morris Kinghorn; sons, Jason Val Thompson, Cody Tyler Thompson, and Casey James Thompson; grandchildren: Jersey Thompson and Treven Thompson; siblings: George F. Thompson (Linda) of Salt Lake City, Shaunne Caroline Duffin, (Merrill) of Idaho Falls; Mark Thompson (Dawn) of Idaho Falls; Dale Thompson (Amy) of Idaho Falls; Sarah Coburn of Visalia, California; Helen Latimer (Gregg) of American Fork, Utah; James Thompson of Salmon; John Thompson (Eugina) of Shelley; and a sister-in-law, Ann Buchanan (Tom) of Idaho Falls.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Thompson.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014, at the Taylorview LDS Ward, 1291 W 65th South, Idaho Falls with Bishop Dennis Pond officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
