Jolene Barbara Johnson passed away Thursday morning, August 21, 2014 at her home in Green Castle, Missouri surrounded by her family.
Jolene was born October 25, 1932 near Queen City, Missouri to John and Reta Houston Grabosch. She was raised in the Stahl and Shibleys Point areas.
She was united in marriage to Elbert R. Johnson on August 27, 1951, he preceded her in death on November 6, 2009. Together they welcomed four children: Lonnie Johnson and wife Barbara, Tonya Kiger and husband Randy, Jerol Johnson and wife Theresa, and Taryn Shafer and husband Brent. Grandchildren are Melissa Maloney, Nikki Johnson, Sunny Tipton, Amanda Lunsford, Brianne Hunter, Travis Gray, Will Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Lanie Shafer, Morgan Buckallew, and Charlie Shafer. Three step-granddaughters Deandra Jacobs, Shelby Brundage, and Bailey Daniels. Fourteen great grandchildren and three step-great grandsons. She is also survived by one brother Jerol Dean Grabosch and his wife Mildred and three nephews, John, Jerry and Jim Grabosch.
Also preceding her were; her parents, an infant brother, Harold Eugene and a grandson, James Recil Kiger.
Jolene retired from Hollisters after 22 years of employment. She enjoyed working beside Elbert on their farm, planting flowers and mowing her own yard. Most of all she enjoyed her home and family. In the winter she loved watching the cardinals that came to her feeders, and looked forward to spring for the return of her beloved wrens and hummingbirds.
A funeral service was held 2:00 PM., Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Green City, Missouri. Doug Kelley officiated. Kathy White provided music. Burial followed in the Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle, Missouri. Casket bearers were her eight granddaughters.
