Stephen A. Childress, 82, died August 29, 2014.
He was born April 17, 1932, in Los Angeles to Gus and Jonnie Mae Childress.
Steve was predeceased by his sisters, Gina Woolever and Cindy Fraser; and his son, Scott Childress.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, JoAnn; sister, Judy Hines (Tom); daughters, Theresa Harrington (Jim), Stephanie Shira, Stacey Yeager (Wes), and son-in-law, Joe Roos; grandchildren, Jon, Chelsea, Devan, Braden, Sarah, and Katie; and great-grandson, Agustus.
Steve served in the US Army in Korea as an Honor Guard.
He retired in 1979 as Chief of the Fairbanks, Alaska, Fire Dept., where he served for 22 years.
Services Sunday, September 7, 2014, at 6:00 p.m., Streams in the Desert Lutheran Church, Tucson, Arizona.
