Anna F. Robinson, 91, passed away Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, after a short illness with cancer. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Anna was born Oct. 1, 1922, in Waxahachie to Brock M. Robinson and Annie Rowlett Robinson. She graduated from North Side High School in Fort Worth and was an avid softball player for the amateur women's softball leagues. Anna was a member of "the Greatest Generation." She served in the U.S. Women's Army Corps from Sept. 7, 1944, to July 16, 1948. She was stationed in northern Germany as a supply sergeant during World War II, injured on duty and was a disabled American veteran. After the war, she attended Texas Wesleyan College where she majored in art. In 1961, Anna joined the Planning Department for the city of Fort Worth, managing the graphics and arts and was an eyewitness to the planning and growth of Fort Worth. She retired from the city in 1983 and spent her retirement years traveling and volunteering for church and community organizations, and received an award from the Fort Worth Human Rights Commission. Anna was an active member and board member of Agape MCC and was a current member of Mid-Cities Cathedral of Hope. Anna was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Women in Military Service for America Memorial in Washington, D.C. Appreciation goes to staff and friends at Meadow Lakes Retirement Community for providing Anna a caring home for the last four years. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and three brothers. Survivors: Brother, James H. Robinson of North Richland Hills; four nephews; 10 nieces including Janice Owens and husband, Roger, Brenda Laurence and husband, Rick; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She also leaves behind lifelong friends, Joyce, Lou, Harriett and Mary Jo; many cherished and caring church friends; and her dog, Izzy.
