Wanda Lee Mitchell Suchanek, age 88, a resident of DeQuincy, Louisiana died on Sepetmber 2, 2014 at High Hope Care Center, Sulphur, Louisiana. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Bible Baptist Church, DeQuincy, Louisiana. Wanda was an accomplished seamstress. Her joy was cooking and she loved trying new dishes. She passed down her love for crabbing, shrimping and fishing to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was the daughter of the late Walter Mitchell and Retha Dickerson Mitchell.
She is survived by her daughters Jimmie Lee Royer and husband Butch of DeQuincy, Louisiana and Diana Suchanek of Houston, Texas; sons, Robert Langton of DeQuincy, Louisiana, Richard Suchanek of San Diego, CA and Jacob Suchanek of Cocoa, Florida, along with eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She is also survived by three sisters, Nyla Dennis of Woodville, Texas; Joy Hooper and husband George of Moss Bluff, Louisiana and Charlotte Ball of Moss Bluff, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Mitchell and Retha Dickerson Mitchell, her husband, Richard Suchanek, daughters, Rebecca Esthay and Ellen Suchanek; brothers, Boyd Mitchell, J.K. Mitchell, J.D. Mitchell, Earl Mitchell, Dake Mitchell and Buddy Mitchell.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 4, 2014 beginning at 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. and on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 10:00 A.M. The visitation and funeral service will be held at Bible Baptist Church, DeQuincy, Louisiana. Pastor Eric Aultman will be officiating. Interment will be at Perkins Cemetery, DeQuincy, Louisiana.
