Orval William Burnham, 56 years old,609 South Main, died at 2 O'clock Friday afternoon at Freeman hospital at Joplin where he had been a patient for four days. He had been ill four months.
Born July 18, 1905, in Farmington, Arkansas. Mr. Burnham had resided in Carl Junction since 1927. He was employed by the DuPont Powder Plant at Carl Junction for 30 years. At the time of his illness, he was a custodian at KOAM television station.
He was married November 12, 1927 , at Columbus, Kansas to Miss Ethel Garrison, who survives. Other survivors include his mother, Mrs Virginia Burnham of Carl Junction, a son Orval Richard Burnham, of the home, two daughters, Miss Virginia Burnham of the home, and Mrs Charles P. Russell, of Merriam, Kansas, and one granddaughter. Arrangements will be announced by Roney Funeral service, Carl Junction. "

His mother, Virginia Williamson Burnham, wrote this in his honor. " In memory of my son Orval who departed this life, May 18, 1962. I feel now his soul is at Rest but it was so hard to give him up. He was such a comfort to me in all my sorrows. Always ready to help me in every way. I pray dear Heavenly Father that when I depart this life on Earth I can go and be with all my loved ones in that heavenly home, where there will be no more sorrow or tears." Mother.
