Rachel was the oldest child of David Bright and Henrietta England Davis. Her siblings were Nancy Jane,(died young), and brother John Edward "Joe" Davis.
Rachel wed Marvin Beck, 17 Mar 1877, Collin County, Texas, and had the following known children: John McKinney, Nathan David, Josephine C./Gladden, Robert, James Arthur, Mandania Alice/Perry,(called Dana), and Ada Lucerita Beck.
Rachel's mother died when she was but six years old, her father having young children to raise soon remarried the widow, Mandania "Mandy" Reagan Roberts, this union produced three children before the death of Mandy. Again David remarried to widow Sarah Lucinda "Alice Lucy" Curry, Coats. At this time I believe the families started their migration towards West Texas. David Bright family and many of his children are buried in Clay County, Texas.
Early researchers were totally confused as to the children in the census records, and more times than not though them to belong to the same mother. When David married Mandania Roberts, she had three children, he had three children with Henrietta, they together had three more children so by the 1870 census there were seven children in the family, and looking at the census enumeration you would not know that three of these children were not Davis children.
Would be interested in talking with any family that is connected to Rachel Davis Beck.
