Ms. Darlene Smalls Bolton, or "Dimples" as she was affectionately called by her brothers, was born July 25, 1959. She entered her heavenly rest on August 27, 2014. She was the seventh child of Janie L. Smalls and the late Herbert Smalls.
She was educated in the public schools of South Carolina and worked as a Certified Assistant Dietary Manager at Brian Nursing Center in the St. Andrews community and continued this career path throughout her life. She went on to receive her Nursing Certification from Midlands Technical College and was pursuing a degree in Business Management.
Darlene accepted Christ as her Savior in 1980. Once united with the body of believers at North Star Christian Center, she served the Lord in dance as a member of the praise dance team, as well as a leader of a small group prayer circle and as an usher.
She was united in marriage in 1985. This union was blessed with the births of three beautiful daughters.
Darlene was known for her terrific sense of humor and her ability to recall stories about events from her childhood. To her family and friends, she was the life of the party.
Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Herbert Smalls, Sr., and a brother, Mr. Herbert Smalls, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters: Miss Charlene L. Bolton, Miss Frankie L. Bolton and Miss Brittni L. Bolton, all of Columbia; one loving grandson, Mr. Jacory D. Patterson of Columbia; her mother, Mrs. Janie L. Smalls; ten siblings: Ms. Janie M. Smalls, Mrs. Sarah L. (William) Anderson, Mr. Robert Smalls, Mr. Ernest (Renee) Smalls of Virginia, Mr. Melvin (Denise) Smalls, Mr. Lester (Jackie) Smalls, Mr. Gary (Serivia) Smalls of Japan, Mrs. Shirley (Gerald) Karriem, Mrs. Brenda (Stanford) Bradley and Mr. Darrin L. Smalls, Sr.; and numerous, loving nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
