Gerald (Jerry) Lee Nash, resident of Ponca City, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 31, 2014. He was 64.

A Graveside service celebrating his life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Elder Toby A. Blackstar Co Pastor St. James A.M.E. Church of Ark City, Kansas officiating.

Honorary casketbearers will be Bruce Cook, Paul Heintz, Albert Espinosa, Dennis Long, and Wilford Carter.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home.

Jerry was born to Elza and Flora Nash in Ponca City, Oklahoma on January 31, 1950.

He grew up in Ponca City attending Woodlands, East Jr. High and Ponca City High School graduating in 1968.

Jerry met the love of his life Dixie Schooley on Memorial Day 1966. They have been married 47 years.

Jerry started his meat cutting career at Dack's in 1968. He worked for several grocery stores in town.

Jerry was the youngest co-manager for Bestyet and youngest meat market manager for Humpty grocery. He was a member of United Food and Commercial union local 2 MO. He processed many deer, elk, and buffalo.

Jerry was a fun loving guy and made many friends thru life. He loved horses and was president and member of the Marland Round-up Club.

In 1986 he taught his daughter and granddaughter to ride. Jerry was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather. He always let you know he loved you and that you were important to him. He fought so hard for the last nine years with his health bypassing every ones expectations.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tommy E. Nash; daughter, Diana F. Nash; mother and father-in-law, Junior and Elsa Schooley; and brother-in-law, Johnnie W. Schooley.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Nash of the home; daughter, Tricia and James Peterson of Ponca City, OK; granddaughter, Jamie L. Peterson of Ponca City, OK;

brother, Tommy Nash of Ponca City, OK; sister, Lori and John Schiltz of Ponca City, OK; sister, Diana and Larry Polston of Ponca City, OK;

brother-in-law, Larry Schooley of Waverly, New York; brother-in-law, Ronnie Schooley of Bartsville, OK; and his "adopted son" Victor Bennett.
