Graduated from Thermopolis High School in Thermopolis, Wyoming in 1939 and then from The University of Utah School of Nursing in 1945. During WWII she belonged to the Cadet Corp Nurses and worked for many years as a registered nurse retiring in 1979. Her husband died in 1984 and they raised five children. She served a mission at the Washington DC Temple and loved to take road trips all over the United States!

WARSAW -- Mrs. Loraine L. Jackson, 84, of Patrick Place, a registered nurse at Craig Developmental Center in Sonyea and at Wyoming County Community Hospital, where she retired in 1979, died Sunday (Feb. 26, 2006) at WCCH emergency room.

She was born April 18, 1921, in Knox County, Mo., a daughter of the late William and Frances Berges Lindsey. She was a 1939 graduate of Thermopolis High School in Wyoming and a 1945 graduate of University of Utah School of Nursing. She was in the Cadet Corps Nurses during World War II.

Mrs. Jackson and her husband, Dr. John E. Jackson, who died Nov. 12, 1984, lived in Castile for many years. She was a member of Castile Gala Club and Castile Historical Society. She was a longtime member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church callings.

After her husband died she served a mission at the church's Washington, D.C. temple. She also spent time in the Midwest until returning to Warsaw in 1996.
Survivors include two daughters, Michaela Jill Mahler of Monterey, Calif., and Melissa Vrooman of Castile; three sons, John (Dixie) Jackson of Las Vegas, Jeffrey (Gretchen) Jackson of Warsaw and Jeremy Jackson of Las Vegas; a sister, Jane Lindsey of Tucson; 24 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, where services will follow at 7. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery in Knox County, Mo., where a graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. Memorials may be made to Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, 1 East Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL 60601-1905. Arrangements were by Harmon-Watson Funeral Home of Castile.
