James Micael "Mike" Adkins, age 55, of Marion, NC. passed away Monday, December 2, 2012 at his residence. Born September 17, 1957 in Irwin, TN, Mike was a son of the late Coy Brown Adkins and Mildred Edwards Adkins of Roxboro, NC. He was employed at Haldex for 24 years. Mr. Adkins was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed gold panning. In addition of his father, he is preceded in death by a brother, Keith Daniel Adkins.

He is survived by, in addition to his mother, wife of 35 years, Kathy Adkins of the home; one son, Christopher Adkins and wife, Karen Yutzy of Marion; two sisters, Patricia Hurdle of Hurdle Mills, NC and Phyllis Evans and husband, Steve of Halifax, VA; one grandaughter, Lillian S. Adkins; one nephew, Steve Evens, Jr. and wife, Phyllis of Marion; two nieces, Karen Rimmer and husband, Dean of Halifax, VA. A number of great nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
