Mr. Benjamin Elliot Owens, 17, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, SC. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, September 1, 2014, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with Reverend Joey Deese officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Park on Hollis Lakes Road. Benjamin, a SC native, was the son of Dallas and Lori Owens. He was a senior at Northwestern High School, where he played football and was a cellist in the school orchestra. He enjoyed playing basketball, fishing and playing the guitar. He was the youngest competitor to complete the 2013 Columbia marathon and was a car enthusiast. Benjamin was a beloved son, brother, grandson and friend. He loved people and animals and always had an open heart and welcoming smile. Surviving are his parents, Dallas and Lori Owens of the home: two brothers, Harrison Owens and Dawson Owens, both of the home; his maternal grandmother, Kathy Viers of Vansant, Virginia and paternal grandmother, Joyce Stanley of Grundy, Virginia; his girlfriend, Katie Gomulinski and several aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends; sister Catie Ray Thomason; godparents, Chris and Nancy Thomason. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. The Herald.
