LANCASTER, SC:::::::::::Mr. Bascom Leonard “Len” Phillips, Jr., age 76, died Monday, September 1, 2014 at Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born September 29, 1937 in Charlotte, NC, the son of the late Bascom Leonard Phillips, Sr. and Ruth McConnell Phillips. Mr. Phillips was the owner and operator of Palmetto Broadcasting Systems – WAGL Radio Station and served our great country in the Army National Guard.
Mr. Phillips is survived by 2 sons, Brian Leonard Phillips and his wife Dena and Daniel Wayne Phillips and his wife Leslie both of Lancaster, a daughter, Kelley P. Strauss and her husband Andrew of Rock Hill, a brother, Robert Wesley Phillips and his wife Laura of Charlotte, and 11 grandchildren.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. Phillips will be 3:00 pm, Friday, September 5, 2014 at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
The Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Burgess Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, SC and suggest memorials to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
