Rock Musician. He was the lead vocalist for the rock music ensemble "Survivor" from 1984 until their disbanding in 1989. Born in Durant, Mississippi, he moved with his mother to Memphis, Tennessee, when he was an infant. After performing in a band during his teenage years, he joined the group "Target" during the 1970s. In addition to releasing a few albums, the band was the opening act for such groups as "Black Sabbath," "Boston" and "KISS." Jamison went on to the group "Cobra," prior to succeeding Dave Bickler as the lead singer for "Survivor" in 1983. Their platinum anthem "Eye of the Tiger" (1982) had already brought them commercial success, and during Jamison's time as the frontman, they scored Top Ten hits with "High on You" (1985), "The Search is Over" (1985), "Burning Heart" (1985) and "Is This Love" (1986). During the 1990s, he achieved success as a solo artist with the hit "I'm Always Here," which became the theme song for the TV series "Baywatch." In 2004, Jamison reunited with other "Survivor" band members to record a parody of their hit "Eye of the Tiger" for a Starbucks' TV commercial. They received an Emmy Award nomination.

JIMI JAMISON
In us we all have the power
Sometimes it is so hard to see
That instinct is stronger
than reason
It's just human nature to me
I'll be ready
Don't you fear
Forever and Always,
I'm always here
