Wendell "Bill" Bittle was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Etterville, the son of A. Bittle and Mildred Bond Bittle. He married Gloria Briese on Sept. 16, in Gibbon, Minn.

He served in the United States Navy HMC for 25 years. While in the Navy he served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where he served many years as usher. He was also a member of the Fleet Reserve and the North Arkansas Retired Military Association.

Bill died on Sunday, Feb. 9, 1986 in Mountain Home, Ark., age 62. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, one son and one brother/sister? He is survived by his wife, Gloria; three brothers, Clarence, Wayne of Brazito, Sam of Eldon; two sisters, Pauline Jenkins of Columbia and Ruby Faye Jeffries of Eldon.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Mountain Home, Ark. Burial was at the Eldon City Cemetery.
