age 74 of Galesburg and formerly of Abingdon, died at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born on March 3, 1940 in Galesburg, the son of William "Bid" and Evelyn (Holeman) Andrews. He married Shirlee Sorrells in 1961. He married Sandra Rhinehart in 1980. He later married Melody Howerter in 1999 in Hannibal, Missouri.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Melody; three sons, Troy (Laura) Andrews of Abingdon, Todd "Slick" (Gayle) Andrews of Abingdon and Todd (Shelly) Rhinehart of Maquon; two daughters, Paula (Scott) Maag of Golden Eagle and Libbey (Rick) DeLaCruz of Galesburg; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles (David) Andrews of Arizona and Fred (Joyce) Andrews of Abingdon; one sister, Janice (Don) Embry of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews. Terry is also survived by his loyal dog, Kirby. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Simpson.
He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1958. He worked at Tom's, Pepsi, Knox Laundry and then for the Abingdon School District for 27 years as a bus driver and in custodial work, retiring in 2003 due to his health.
He was very active in the Abingdon community where he was a member of the Jaycee's, was a den leader for Boy Scouts, was a coach for the boys little league, the girls softball league and he even coached intramural football before it was the JFL. Wherever there was a sporting event, Terry was there. He served for many years as the treasurer for the Abingdon Banty League and the Abingdon Athletic Booster Club. He was selected to the Abingdon High School Wall of Fame and in 1999 the Abingdon City Council named the small diamond at the ballpark "Andrews Field". He never met a stranger and was always interested in everyone and what they were doing.
He was a former member of the Abingdon Christian Church and was a past deacon. He currently attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abingdon.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Abingdon-Avon High School Gymnasium, 600 W. Martin St. in Abingdon. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate with Mrs. Eleanor Landon giving the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Abingdon Cemetery with Deacon Robert Rodriguez officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
