Major League Baseball Player. The left-hander pitched eight years with the Cincinnati Reds (1899-1905) and the New York Highlanders (1906). He was 23-8 in 1899 with a 2.68 earned run average, 309 innings pitched and a league-leading 145 strikeouts. He led the National League with 41 complete games, 375 innings pitched and 239 strikeouts while going 22-19 with a 2.71 ERA in 1901. He followed that with 23-12 and a 1.77 ERA in 1902 and 22-12 with a 2.52 ERA in 1903. He pitched a no-hitter on July 12, 1900 against Philadelphia. He was 130-93 lifetime with a 2.55 ERA and 211 complete games in 230 starts. He is a member of the Reds' Hall of Fame.
