Deceased was born in Montgomery county and came to Hagerstown in 1873. He opened a grocery store at the corner of Washington and Foundry St., and later moved into the room not occupied by J.C. Artz, N. Potomac St. He was employed as salesman by the late T.B. Cushwa, for eleven years and also traveled for M.P. Moller.
He was a member of St. Paul's M.E. Church and the Knights of Honor and Odd Fellow lodges.
His wife died about one year ago. The survivors are the following children: Mrs. Daisy Byers, Chambersburg; Howard M. and Claude, both of this city; sister, Mrs. Susan Metz, Manassas, Va.; brothers, Robert, Germantown; George, Washington; Richard, Clarksburg.
Funeral Thursday; services in St. Paul's M.E. Church; interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
