Marilyn R. Powell, age 81, of the Sunset Home, formerly of 2223 College, passed away peacefully in the arms of her devoted and loving husband and went to her Lord, on August 30, 2014. She was born on August 3, 1933 in Omaha, NE, the daughter of Andrew William & Ressie A. (Head) Murphy. Marilyn was a 1951 graduate of Quincy High School. She married her high school sweetheart and fellow 1951 graduate, Robert T. Powell, Sr. on July 14, 1951. He survives. Marilyn was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Marilyn was an amazing and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an amazing listener and all of her family relied on her greatly because of that fact. She also loved crossword puzzles. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
