He died at his home in Brasher Center.

He was born on Long Sault Island, April 11, 1849, one of nine children of Michael and Adeline Melotte Mousaw.

He married Sophia White on July 4, 1871. She died in 1936.

He was an expert shingle sawyer, working at Wilkinson's mills below Brasher Falls. In 1887 the family moved to Norwood where he followed his trade for the Norwood Lumber company and for a time in the paper mill.

Surviving was his wife; two daughters, Mrs. George (Alice) Burgess and Mrs. Cora Carpenter; three sons, Fred, Elmer, Cyrus, superintendent of schools at Schroon Lake; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Marcia Vanier.

Predeceasing him was John at 10 months, Myron after reaching manhood; five sisters, Mrs. Frank (Eliza) Youmell, and Louisa (twins), Adeline Amo, Mrs. Frank (Hannah) Prashaw, and Mary Phelix; and two brothers, Amos and Michael.
