Her funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City, with the Rev. James Boswell officiating. Burial was in Bellflower Township Cemetery in Bellflower. Visitation was held before the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Paulsen was born Aug. 22, 1918, in Farmer City, a daughter of Charles and Opal Cambell Helmick. She married Henry Hiither in 1936. He died in 1965. She later married Paul Paulsen in 1973. He died in 1995.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Tarter of Bloomington and Diane (Bill) Bardy of Carlsbad, Calif.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Delores Case of Gibson City.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a son-in-law.
Mrs. Paulsen first worked at Illinois Soldiers and Sailers Children School in Bloomington, then was a farm wife. She later was the postmaster at the Bellflower Post Office. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Bellflower and Ladies Aid at the church. She enjoyed sewing, bingo and golf. She loved spending winters in Largo, Fla., for 30 years.
