Robert C. Fisk was born on Nov. 5, 1946, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Clinton B. and Mary Grace (Lewis) Fisk. After graduating from high school, his education included two years at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis and then the School of Mines in Socorro, New Mexico. Robert then served in the United States Navy on the USS Independence.

In 1974 Robert moved to Anchorage, and he married Martha C. Antunez on Sept. 2, 1977. The couple then moved to Fairbanks until 1982. Robert was employed as a petroleum engineer with the Bureau of Land Management; he retired in 2011. During his time, Robert helped establish the BLM-UAF program, he was on the advisory board of engineering and mining at UAF and was a volunteer on Black Rapids Glacier drilling project. He also volunteered his time with Habitat for Humanity. Outside of work and giving back to the community, Robert loved traveling. In addition, he was a private pilot and loved any type of machinery; he also enjoyed building things.

“Bob will be missed by everybody,” his family said. He died on Aug. 16, 2014, at his home in Wasilla. His cremated remains will be interred at the National Cemetery in San Diego, California. Robert is survived by his wife, three brothers, and a sister. His parents preceded him in death.
